Course synopsis:

Find out how to make the most creative programmes you can, while going to the boundaries of what is editorially possible and legally safe. This course provides an unmissable opportunity to ask your burning questions of a panel of experts from OFCOM, BBC Editorial Policy, and the Independent production sector. It will bring you up to date with current editorial guidelines and legal practice. 

Do you fully understand legal issues around defamation, reporting current legal cases or working with children? Are you unsure what the current live editorial issues are around music programming, or harm and offence, or simply feel your knowledge needs refreshing? This is an essential chance to build a network which will advise and support your editorial practice. It will help you to take risks, and create cutting edge content, whilst ensuring you are fully compliant and editorially safe

Outline of the Day:

• 0930 – 1000: Introduction and your conundrums

• 1000 – 1100: harm and offence, fairness, working with children, social media

• 1100 – 1115 Break

• 1115 – 1200 Legal minefields: bringing you up to date

• 1200 – 1245 Accuracy, reporting contentious issues, defamation

1245 – 1400 Working lunch and expert panel

RIGrain Perfect Pitching Masterclass with Mo Bakaya in January

Course synopsis:

Following the success of the Perfect Pitching Masterclass at the end of January, RIGtrain are providing a day-long course on the art of pitching with the opportunity to take part in a live pitch to commissioners at the end of the day.  You will learn how to hone your idea, write and structure your pitch and polish your presentation skills.  There will be plenty of opportunity to rehearse and practice and you will get feedback on your pitch from programme commissioners.

Quattrain - a training company that specialise in media skills and creative leadership.  All partners are ex-BBC staff and have an expertise in programme making, editorial expertise and senior management. 

trainer: Natasha Maw is an experienced audio programme maker and trainer.  She has helped train several programme makers and digital entrepreneurs successfully pitch their ideas.
